Installations

Pure Air Conditioning specialises in the installation of fixed system air conditioning. They do not try to be experts at a variety of different trades as they feel that they can only offer the exacting levels of professionalism that they have become famous for by keeping their expertise targeted to what they know. They know fixed system air conditioning.

The sales team is headed up by Dominic Wilford, who has over 15 years experience in the air conditioning industry. His background is working for the leading Japanese manufacturers such as Hitachi, Daikin, Sanyo and Mitsubishi Electric so brings a wealth of knowledge on the products available which in turn means the customer has the comforting knowledge that the widest range of products is available to them meaning exactly the right product is chosen each time. Some of Pure Air Conditioning's clients have suggested that other contractors offer only one range of products and make that range fit regardless of the application, Pure Air Conditioning will never follow that route as their focus has always been to treat each client individually. Each client, they believe, must be given all choices available.

There are a variety of products and manufacturers available and unfortunately there are some that prove to be rather problematic and unreliable. Pure Air Conditioning tests all manufacturers before committing to using them so there are no hidden surprises for their valued customers, how many other suppliers of any product can claim that? Ultimately, following intensive research, they have confidence in the following: Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Toshiba, LG, Sanyo, Hitachi and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The comforting fact too though is that as new manufacturers develop new ranges, so will Pure Air Conditioning invest time and money on studying that range before adding them to their list of approved manufacturers.

The styles of indoor unit are listed below:

WALL MOUNTEDThis unit is often used in domestic applications and server rooms. The wall unit is the quickest to install and the cheapest to buy. So ultimately that means the lowest installed price. The unit is hung on a wall above head height and blows hot or cold air into a room from one louvre.
FLOORThis unit is used when there is no ceiling void or no wall space. It is slightly more expensive to buy than a wall unit but takes about as long to install. It is a little like a radiator except it blows hot or cold air rather than using water.
CASSETTEThis unit is often used in offices. The cassette unit is fixed from the roof above a ceiling void and the white four way fascia is the only part of the unit you see. It takes longer to install this unit than a wall mounted and is more expensive to buy but it distributes the air in four directions so gives better coverage and a more gentle air flow.
DUCTEDThis unit is the "creme de la creme" or the "Rolls Royce" of air conditioning! It is, of course, the most expensive to buy and install but it means the customer sees nothing other than inconspicuous air diffusers in the ceiling. The unit is mounted, as the cassette, above a ceiling and ductwork is installed to carry the air to the diffusers. This gives a very comfortable environment and good coverage.

The good thing about air conditioning is its flexibility. You can run any of the above from one outdoor condensing unit, which is called a "single split". Or you can run a number of indoor units from one outdoor unit, this is called a "multi split". You can even run up to 32 indoor units from one outdoor unit if the need arises, like in a hotel application, this is called VRF, Variable Refrigerant Flow.

So there aren't many applications that can't be heated or cooled by air conditioning. The vital part of any installation is to consider these points:
1. What indoor unit style do you favour?
2. Where can the outdoor unit go?
3. How long would the interconnecting two pipes have to be?
4. Can we use a gravity drain to run away the condensation or do we need a pump?
5. Is there the necessary power requirements in the building?
6. How big is the room?
7. What is the room used for?

Once these points are established a budget price can be confirmed. Clearly there are other factors that determine the design of the unit but these are the basic points.

In the first instance, if, after reading this, you would like to investigate your options further, the next step is to invite Pure Air Conditioning to site so they can establish exactly what is required. One of their specially trained design engineers will be only to pleased to assist.

Industry "buzz words" you may come across but do not fully understand can be confusing, Pure Air Conditioning can try below to explain a few:

INVERTER

The compressor is the units heartbeat. An older style of unit would turn the compressor on at full power, when temperature was reached, the unit would turn off. The cycle would repeat throughout the day. This was expensive as turning this old style of compressor on and off drew a lot of electrical current. The new "inverter" driven units have compressors that can fluctuate their load depending on what is actually required. You can compare it to a car engine and the accelerator. When you need more heating or cooling, the inverter compressor speeds up. When you need less it slows down, rarely turning off. This means the unit is hardly ever drawing any load electrically. Experts have suggested that inverter driven units can save up to 40% on running costs!

ECAThis stands for Enhanced Capital Allowance. It is a government run incentive to financially reward companies who choose to install energy efficient products. If a company has qualifying equipment installed and they make profit in that financial year, they can claim 100% of the equipment and installation cost back against their tax, increasing dramatically the company cashflow.
