Is air conditioning a necessity or a luxury?
An air conditioner is an appliance that plays a vital role in cooling a hot atmosphere in a short space of time. Air conditioners are mostly used in areas where temperature rises above 36 degrees celsius.
It is used in offices, restaurants, cars, retail stores and other indoor facilities. Air conditioners were earlier considered as secondary or as a luxury as people could survive without it. However, with the increase in global warming, air conditioners have become a necessity. Heat is an essential energy. However, when a room is exposed to high heat it creates a problem and makes people uncomfortable. In this case, air conditioners are the best solution.
There are two types of air conditioner that are widely used:
1) Window air conditioners. These types of air conditioner are installed in windows. Window air conditioners help in cooling the entire room. They run on electricity and are placed in windows to expel hot air. Wall units are an alternative to the window units and do not have to be placed in windows. In older rooms, window units are more common.
2) Central air conditioners. The actual unit of a central air conditioner is located outside. It helps in cooling larger areas, like entire offices or restaurants. The temperature in the building is controlled by a thermostat. Central air conditioners are very efficient.
With advances in technology, there has been a great improvement in the performance of new air conditioners.
