The rental company will ask you to fill and submit an application in its prescribed form for hiring its services. All the details of the contract along with the monthly rent are mentioned on the form. You can generally negotiate a cheaper rent if you hire an air conditioner for a longer period. Short term rentals prove to comparatively expensive.

An air conditioning company sends its representative to inspect the area after receiving the requirement for cooling from the customer. The tonnage of the air conditioning unit is decided based on the area of the room it is supposed to cool. The installation of a window air conditioner requires some fitting work, since it is fitted on a window. After the installation of the air conditioner, gaps between the window frame and the body of the unit are sealed to prevent entry of the outside air into the room.

You also need to sign a maintenance contract along with the application form. Generally, it is the responsibility of the company to maintain the air conditioners and hence the maintenance cost for a rented air conditioner is nil.
