Old air Conditioning systems - Repair or Replace?

Filed under: Air Conditioning — Nathan @ 1:28 pm

The decision of whether to repair an air conditioner or to purchase a new one depends upon your requirements.

Sometimes the cost of the repairing goes up to a level where you think purchasing a new air conditioner would be a much better option.

You can get in touch with an air conditioning contractor for inspecting your air conditioning unit. By doing this, you will get an idea about the life span of your unit. It will help you to get an idea of how much it will cost to operate it, how much you would be able save if you get a new air conditioner, etc.

Also, emergency replacements during the peak summertime can be avoided if you buy a new air conditioner. The life span of a typical air conditioner is normally around 12 to 15 years. If your present air conditioner is 8 to 10 year old, you can usually save around 25% to 40% of the energy costs by replacing a newer and more efficient model of air conditioner.
