Tips on the maintenance of an evaporative cooler
You have bought a new evaporative cooler for your room. You have enjoyed its cool breeze but you also need to take care of it. You need to maintain it so that it runs effectively. The following measures should be taken to maintain the evaporative cooler.
One should always change the pads as and when needed. The ideal time range is every four to six years. This will create cleaner air.
At the beginning of the cooler season, rinse the pads with the help of a hose. You need to remove any debris that has built up.
The blower assembly bearing should be lubricated. The motor should also be lubricated with suitable oil.
The belt tension should not move more than an inch. If you see that the belt is sagging it means that it immediately needs to be replaced.
For a longer life of the evaporative cooler, always use a clean machine to flush the pan. This will provide you with cleaner pads, cooler air and reduction in maintenance.
A damp cloth should be used to prevent mildew build up. Use of harsh chemicals should be completely avoided.
If you want to test whether the cooler pads are getting saturated consistently, then you need to turn on the cooler motor and pump.
Call an air conditioner specialist if you notice any cracks or holes. Also check for any kinds of leaks.
Winterise your cooler once you have decided that you will not require it. You need to clean the debris so that it will not harden when you use the device in the warmer seasons.
